FEMA On March 1, 2003, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The primary mission of the Federal Emergency Management Agency is to reduce the loss of life and property and protect the Nation from all hazards, including natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other man-made disasters, by leading and supporting the Nation in a risk-based, comprehensive emergency management system of preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation.
Fire Fighter Close Calls FirefighterCloseCalls.com was an idea born from The Secret List, an independent newsletter produced since 1998 in an effort to bring forward the issues involving injury and death to firefighters... often issues that are ignored, quickly forgotten or just not talked about. Originally started as an e-mail group amongst some close friends in the fire service, it is currently received by thousands of fire service members.
With the attitude that in order for firefighters to survive the dangers of the job, we must learn how other firefighters have had "Close Calls" and even been injured or killed, this site and TSL will continue the "No BS" history of bringing forward issues in an effort to enforce that philosophy-and get firefighters to refocus on "what's important." The intent is not to "Monday Morning Quarterback" or purposely embarrass anyone, but to provide as factual information as possible as provided by our visitors-with commentary to allow the reader to THINK and decide if, or what they wanna do in order to prevent the bad stuff from occurring again. We always welcome corrections or updated information.
Firefighter Nation Leading news and information for the firefighting, rescue and EMS community with links, breaking news, firefighter jobs & resources, forums and more.
Firefighter.com As one of the fire services leading online retailers, Firefighter.com's mission is to provide its customers with the most cost effective and pleasant shopping experience the industry has to offer.

Healthy Firefighter The NVFC Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program is the only national program dedicated to saving America's firefighters and EMS personnel from their leading cause of death: heart disease. We invite firefighters, EMS personnel, and their families to explore the site to find out how easy, fun, and rewarding it is to get healthy. It takes a person with heart to do their job. Let's help keep them healthy.
Kids Place Each year in the United States an estimated 2,800 children age 14 or younger are injured and 850 killed in residential fires. Of these children, over 40 percent are under the age five, 70 percent are under the age of 10. Because the majority of fire casualties occur in children under the age of 10, USFA Kids is targeted towards that age group.
The goals of USFA Kids are to:
1.Increase the level of individual concern and awareness of children's vulnerability to fire.
2.Educate and inform the U.S. population about how personal responsibility and action is key to preventing fires and fire-related casualties.
3.Provide a timely, coordinated and easy-to-access source of information about how individuals can prevent fires and fire-related casualties.
On this Web site, you will find short lessons about fire escape planning, smoke alarms and general home fire safety. It is recommended that an adult guide children through the lessons. Each lesson is followed by a brief five-question quiz to test children's knowledge of the subject after they have worked through the lesson. Also on the site, you will find games to reinforce the information learned in the lessons. Finally, through a 10-question quiz, children will have the opportunity to earn a Jr. Fire Marshal certificate signed by the Assistant Administrator, U.S. Fire Administration.
National Fire Incident Reporting System This Web site provides system resources and an overview of the standard national reporting system used by U.S. fire departments to report fires and other incidents to which they respond and to maintain records of these incidents in a uniform manner. The site also includes information on training, technical support, and information for vendors who develop NFIRS-compatible software programs. Visitors to this site may also download coding handbooks, sample forms, and a system documentation manual.
Smokey the Bear This is Smokey the Bear's web site. It contains Smokey's special kids section with lots of games, stories and fun! Kid's can learn about wildfires, the people who fight them, and how you can prevent them. Kids can also see Smokey the Bear's story and imagery over the past 60 years.

The Fire Store Witmer Public Safety Group, Inc. is the company behind TheFireStore.com. Witmer Public Safety Group is a family owned and operated company that has been serving the fire equipment and supply industry since 1996. Today the company headquarters, including a large showroom and national distribution center is located in Coatesville, Pennsylvania ? about an hour northwest of Philadelphia.
The company’s initial entry into the fire equipment and supply industry came through Gearmasters ? a line of specialized fire station turnout gear racks and lockers which Witmer Public Safety Group designed and manufactured. With a growing sense of the needs of the fire fighting community, the company launched HelmetPartsSource.com to supply replacement parts for Cairns, Bullard, Morning Pride and Phenix firefighting helmets. New products were being added to the web site on a weekly basis.
As Witmer Public Safety Group expanded their product offerings beyond helmet parts a change in the website name became necessary ? in 1997 TheFireStore.com was born. Today TheFireStore.com represents many of the industry’s largest and most recognized manufacturers.
